Construction of Space Stations – Introduction to Space Transportation Systems

Dr. Yang conducted a presentation at HKPC Academy, titled “Construction of Space Stations – Introduction to Space Transportation Systems,” as part of the STEM Education in Cultivating Hong Kong Aerospace Talents through Space Station Design and Build 2024/2025 program. The presentation focused on the challenges and advancements in space transportation systems, with a particular emphasis on educating high school students in Hong Kong about space exploration. During the session, Dr. Yang provided an in-depth introduction to space transportation, covering key topics such as the development of expendable and reusable rockets, with a special focus on the Starship spacecraft and its potential for future missions to Mars and beyond. The presentation also included detailed discussions on rocket stability, guidance, and recovery methods, as well as real-time trajectory planning and innovations in reusability, such as SpaceX’s Falcon 9 and Starship’s unique recovery systems. Dr. Yang’s presentation provided high school students with valuable insights into the technologies that will drive the future of space transportation, preparing them to think critically about the challenges and opportunities in the aerospace industry. The event, held at HKPC Academy in Kowloon, Hong Kong, was a significant contribution to nurturing future aerospace talents in the region.
