Prof. Wen Meets with Dr. Yuyue Zhong to Discuss Innovations in Material Science and UAS
Hong Kong – June 16, 2025 – This afternoon, Prof. Wen held a productive meeting with Dr. Yuyue Zhong and his research group from the Department of Food Science and Nutrition to explore potential collaborations between their respective fields.
The primary objective of the meeting was to identify innovative synergies between advanced material sciences and Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS). Dr. Zhong introduced his team’s portfolio, including their significant previous work and current research interests.
The discussion was vibrant and covered several forward-thinking topics. These included the application of structural color on UAVs for dynamic camouflage or signaling, the potential for developing novel biomimetic drones, and the integration of passive cooling materials to enhance drone endurance and performance.
To illustrate their capabilities, Dr. Zhong’s team presented several samples of their advanced materials, each demonstrating unique and promising characteristics relevant to aerospace applications. The meeting concluded with a mutual enthusiasm for future joint projects.
