PolyU and Genvict Establish Joint Laboratory for Artificial Intelligence and Connected Unmanned Systems
HONG KONG – July 26, 2026 – The Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU) and Shenzhen Genvict Technologies Co., Ltd. (Genvict) have established the Joint Laboratory for Artificial Intelligence and Connected Unmanned Systems, marking a new stage in their industry–academia collaboration on intelligent transportation and autonomous systems. The five-year cooperation agreement was signed on June 3, 2026.
The Joint Laboratory for Artificial Intelligence and Connected Unmanned Systems, jointly established by PolyU and Genvict.
The joint laboratory will bring together PolyU’s research strengths and Genvict’s engineering capabilities, industry resources, and real-world application environments. Guided by the principles of complementary strengths, resource sharing, shared responsibility, and shared outcomes, the collaboration will connect frontier research, core technology development, prototype validation, engineering deployment, and industrial application.
Research will focus on AI-driven coordination mechanisms and algorithms for intelligent transportation and connected unmanned systems, including end-to-end autonomous driving technologies. The partners will also study and validate the safety, reliability, and stability of connected unmanned systems and large AI models.
The collaboration will promote pilot applications in smart transportation operations, coordinated inspection, and management. Key scenarios include highway operations and emergency response, low-altitude UAV inspection, route planning, target detection and tracking, bridge and tunnel positioning, and air–ground mobility coordination. The partners aim to translate research outcomes into deployable solutions through joint testing in simulation platforms and real-world traffic environments.
PolyU will contribute research expertise, algorithm and model development, and simulation and field-testing support. Genvict will provide roadside and in-vehicle hardware, edge-computing resources, engineering implementation, and industry test environments. The two parties will also foster researcher and student development, organize academic and technical exchanges, pursue joint research projects, and contribute to relevant industry standards.
The establishment of the joint laboratory strengthens the long-term partnership between PolyU and Genvict and provides a collaborative platform for advancing trustworthy AI, intelligent transportation, and connected autonomous systems from fundamental research to real-world deployment.
