Prof. Weisong Wen Visits Skysys to Explore UAV-Based Solar Panel Cleaning Collaboration
On September 9, 2026, Prof. Weisong Wen visited Skysys, an intelligent unmanned-systems company, for a technical exchange on autonomous aerial technologies and their potential applications in solar panel cleaning. The visit focused on exploring possible collaboration between TASLAB and Skysys in developing UAV-based solutions for photovoltaic panel inspection, maintenance, and cleaning.
During the visit, Prof. Wen toured Skysys’ product exhibition area and learned about the company’s unmanned-system platforms, solar-panel-related equipment, and intelligent operational solutions. The exchange provided an opportunity to understand Skysys’ engineering experience in practical deployment scenarios and to discuss how aerial robots, perception, positioning, and control technologies could be integrated for safer and more efficient solar panel cleaning.
The two sides also held a technical discussion on future collaboration directions. Topics included autonomous UAV operation in photovoltaic sites, reliable navigation and positioning, perception for panel condition assessment, cleaning mechanism integration, operational safety, and the feasibility of joint demonstrations. TASLAB shared its research experience in trustworthy AI, UAV autonomy, sensor fusion, and intelligent robotic systems, while Skysys introduced its product development and application-oriented engineering capabilities.
This visit helped strengthen mutual understanding and opened up new possibilities for industry-academia collaboration in renewable-energy maintenance, low-altitude intelligent systems, and field-deployable autonomous robotics.
